According to the Post and Courier‘s article “One-on-One with Les Robinson,” the Citadel athletic director, Les Robinson (formerly coached at The Citadel, East Tennessee State, and North Carolina), loves Sullivan’s Island because:
“First, the history. I’ve been jogging out there since the late 1960s, and it became my favorite running place. When you run through Fort Moultrie to the ocean and come out looking at Fort Sumter, I’m still fascinated by the significance this place had in our country’s history. It’s convenient and close to downtown Charleston, and the town’s leadership has been responsible for the preservation of the island. And finally, the Post Office.”
